SOCCER BOARD MEETING 12-20-2007

The Rossville Area Youth Soccer board met at 7pm on 12/20/2007 at the Rossville library. The following members were present: Joel Wilson, John Isenberg, Randy Long, Jeff Hughes, and Allison Holden.

Elections were discussed. Only 1/2 the votes have been received so Allison will send out another ballot and reminder.

Joel reports we need wheels on the goals at the park due to liability issues. The old goals need to be tied down 24/7. New rebounders will be ordered for next year’s practices. Estimated cost is $250 for a pair.

FINANCES: Current balance is $7,603.84. John has written thank you letters to the coaches and will include the Arni’s $25 vouchers with them. Allison will send him addresses.

We still have rec and travel monies outstanding. John will contact the Carroll Soccer Board about their players who played on our teams last spring, but never paid.

The first session of indoor at Lafayette needs to be collected also.

John reported on complaints he has heard concerning our end of season rec tournament. 1. The final game ended with a shootout. 2. Some teams (U8) used defense positions and goalies, which went against what the coaches had been trained to do.

TRAVEL: Would like to field 3 travel teams in the Spring, but need players and coaches.
U15/16 boys: Jay Crawford?
U18/19 boys: player coach-Bryce?
U 16 girls: Adam Barrett

Allison will put a “coach wanted” blurb in the Frankfort Times and Journal FYI section.
Joel will check with the school about gym availability for try-outs. Looking at Jan 12 or 19 in the Main Gym.
The CICYSL deadline for registering a team is Jan 5th. Randy will call and ask about a late fee. We do not want to register teams and then not get enough players. We not only lose the registration fee, but also a penalty is charged. The minimum number we need for each team is 11 or 12. The U15/16 team is where we are slim. 8th graders: Justin Baker, Chris Yoder, Kirk Holden, Clayton Michael-Butler, and Joey Murphy.
9th graders: Tanner McKee, Jonathan Welk, Kai Quinton.
Need to find out status of Ian, Creigton, and Aron- if they will be playing in Lafayette or Rossville. (Cameron Allred is too old for U16)

The British Challenger Soccer camp will be held June 16-20, 2008
A coach’s clinic will be held during that week.

We will not meet Jan 3. Our next meeting will be Jan 17. (My Kirk has an away b-ball game so I will be absent)
Beginning next year, the regular board meeting will be held monthly on the 3rd Thursday of each month. The 1st Thursday of each month will be reserved for committees meetings or special meetings as needed.
